Fortnite Worlds: Reimagining Networked Play
Fortnite Worlds: Reimagining Networked Play
This project explores the potential of Fortnite as a space for fashion presentation, moving beyond traditional definitions of gaming and player interaction. Built using Unreal Engine for Fortnite, the experience was developed as a custom island to showcase a collection by Isabella Smith.
The project brings together digital fashion, performance, and world-building. Digital garments were designed by Yao Yao and worn by virtual model Luca Asta, creating a fully immersive environment where the collection can be experienced in motion and in context.
Rather than focusing on gameplay mechanics, the island is conceived as a spatial, social experience—where audiences can navigate, gather, and engage with fashion in a more open-ended way. It proposes a shift toward in-game environments as platforms for storytelling, exhibition, and community-building within existing digital infrastructures.
Led by Costas Kazantzis, the project highlights how tools from gaming can be repurposed to create more inclusive, experimental, and networked ecosystems for fashion and creative practice.
