Volumetric Fashion explores how volumetric capture can transform the way fashion collections are presented and experienced. By capturing garments in motion as fully three-dimensional performances, the project enables designers to communicate texture, movement, and form with a level of depth and realism that goes beyond traditional image-making.
Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR) at University of Portsmouth, the project brings together fashion and immersive technology to rethink exhibition formats. Instead of static displays, collections are translated into dynamic, spatial representations—allowing audiences to engage with garments as living, moving entities.
The work showcases designs by Kay Kwok (KWK by Kay Kwok), Chet Lo, and Othilie Romberg, each presented through volumetric capture to highlight their distinct material qualities and silhouettes.
By harnessing this technology, the project proposes a shift toward more expressive, immersive, and performative modes of fashion presentation, where garments are no longer confined to the runway or the frame, but exist as dynamic experiences across digital environments.
